Direct bookings beat OTAs when the site can sell the stay

Every hospitality operator knows the OTA tax. Fewer treat the brand website as the product that is supposed to take that tax down. A slow gallery and a booking widget from 2018 will not beat a listing with reviews, no matter how good the photography is in the brand deck.

Direct booking is an engineering problem

Guests compare on phones, in bed, with three tabs open. If your site cannot show availability, packages, and the feel of the property in a couple of seconds, they will finish the stay on the channel that can. That means image pipelines, not just “compress JPEGs”; schema and local SEO, not just a blog; and an integration with the channel manager that does not fight the design.

What we refuse to ship

Parallax that tanks INP. Slider heroes that hide the book button. Template room grids that look like a motel chain. If the property is specific, the site should be too.

Colorado is full of independent hotels, lodges, and rentals that deserve better than an OTA skin. If that is you, send the current site. We will tell you what is costing direct revenue.
